Gary’s Take on the CrowdStrike Incident: Ensuring Your Business Is Prepared

Hey everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that’s been on my mind lately, especially after the recent issues with CrowdStrike. Even the biggest names in software and cybersecurity can run into problems. As you probably know already CrowdStrike released a configuration update to Windows systems resulting in a system crash and blue screen (BSOD) on impacted systems. While patched quickly, left a lot of customers in a tough spot as they had to manually patch their machines. It got me thinking about how we, as business owners, need to be prepared for these kinds of hiccups.

Let’s be real – when something like this happens, you need an IT partner who’s got your back, not just in theory, but in practice. If one of our tools caused an issue for a customer, we’d be there the same day to fix it. No waiting around, no hoping for a remote fix that might not work. We’d roll up our sleeves and get things sorted out in person.

The recent CrowdStrike event wasn’t just a minor inconvenience, it was a wake-up call. It affected cloud services, meaning hundreds of users were left scrambling. If your IT provider can’t show up and help you out of a jam like this, what’s the point?

Ask yourself: Do you even know if you’re protected against these kinds of vulnerabilities? Do you have a clear idea of where your weak points are?

This incident with CrowdStrike highlights something important – having a reliable, always-on IT partner isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s essential.

When you’re looking for an IT provider, make sure they’re someone who will be there when you need them most. Do they have the capability to support you on-site and handle emergencies the same day? Are they proactive about identifying and protecting your weak spots?

At Marshall we pride ourselves on being that partner. We’re always up, always on, and always ready to step in and solve problems, no matter how big or small.

Don’t wait for a crisis to find out if your IT provider is up to the task. Make sure you’ve got a team that’s ready to go to bat for you when it counts.

Stay safe out there,

Gary
